SJUP is available anywhere in South Africa. Most experiences are in the rural Western Cape. We are adding more experiences every day, so check in again soon to find more unique experiences.
Register with your details and start the search for your ultimate experience. SJUP is available as a web-based marketplace. It will soon be available on the Google Play and Apple Store.
All SJUP guides are registered tour guides and go through stringent security steps before they can register on SJUP. You can ask them to identify themselves with their South African tour guide badge. You’ll be able to identify the top guides through our rating system.
It is important to have good travel insurance, especially when travelling in a foreign country. You are responsible for your own insurance when taking part in a SJUP experience. Our hosts will do their best to ensure the safety of you and your belongings. Neither SJUP nor your host will be liable to cover the expenses, in the case of an incident.
View our cancellation policy to determine whether you qualify for a refund. Refunds liable will be made to the same card that you booked the experience with. Timing of payments will depend on your bank and country of residence, and may take a few working days.
All refunds will be charged with a 4% service fee on the original booking fee amount
Payments happen on the SJUP secure payment portal. You will be redirected to your chosen payment option, when making a payment. To simplify future bookings, you can also add your credit card details to the SJUP secure platform. When you make payment, your booking is confirmed. Your guide will receive payment when the experience is over.
- Make sure your Experience is something you love and will allow your passion to shine through
- Start by doing some Research to see if travellers would be interested in your offered Experience
- Read up on the History, Culture and Characters which sets your local area and experience apart, and share these fun facts and stories with your clients
- Test your experiences on family or friends and ask them for honest feedback (it is important that they do not spare your feelings)
- Immediate responses to messages are essential, and make sure you always keep clients up to date regarding important information
- Stick to your time schedule: your clients expect to be entertained for the duration as indicated. Also, always include all items and stops as per your web description.
- Remember the little things: for example, if you’re teaching clients how to eat a crayfish like a pro, remember the napkins!
- List some tips to share with clients; travellers are always keen to know what else to do in an area or where to find the best food, coffee, craft beer or accommodation.
- Take the feedback your clients leave to heart, even if it hurts. See it as a tool to improve your personal rating and elevate the experience you offer
- Let your unique personality shine through and have fun; travellers who truly connect with you are bound to have more fun!
- Map out your trip to establish total distance (where applicable)
- Supply GPS Coordinates or a GOOGLE PIN
- Calculate and list any additional expenses travellers may incur during Experiences up-front: these may include entry fees, snacks, meals, equipment rental, etc.
- Professional, fun photos are crucial to getting many bookings. Travelers want to see what they can expect from your experience.
- Describe your experience in detail, including all the facets, stops or activities which makes it stand out from the competition. Always remember that travellers are here to bank great memories; make them excited about the SJUP moments they’re about to experience with you!
